Your expertise proved to be just as important as the doctors. Your judgment and advocacy for me to go to the hospital based on my symptoms during my office visit saved my life. Educating me that I may have a pulmonary embolism, the seriousness of it, and repeatedly telling me that I am to be adamant when I’m in the ER that I need a CT scan, not to accept just an X-ray, which you said they would tell me was enough. I did just that when I was told I would get an x-Ray. I kept telling the the doctor no, I need a CT, again I was told an X-ray was enough. I kept hearing your voice saying, “you need to make sure they do a CT, you don’t leave that hospital without a CT.
Eventually the doctor gave in and did give me a CT. I was diagnosed with 2 pulmonary embolisms in my lung. When the doctor received the results it really upset me because he was getting a pat on the back as if he discovered this on his own. When in reality all he wanted to give me was an X-ray.
I was immediately put on a heparin drip, and admitted. I was repeatedly told by every doctor that walked into my hospital room how very lucky I was. Over and over again, “you are so very lucky to be alive.” You came to visit me in the hospital that night. You comforted me and my daughter. Spending 6 days in the hospital and being able to have your comfort and reassurance on a daily bases, multiple times a day, was a gift. You cared for my daughter like she was your own and gave me such peace that I could focus on getting well enough for us to fly back home to our family. If it weren't for you I don't know how things would have turned out. You did so much more than just take care of me. You give the profession of nursing a good name. My family and I thank you for everything you’ve done for us.”

“Consummate, committed, caring, professional, generous, thorough.
We solicited Tina’s services to help us with a loved one who had been admitted to a skilled nursing facility where he’ll finish out his final years. We had concerns around the level of care he was receiving in relation to our objective for him to experience as high a quality of life as possible during this juncture of life, but as non-medical folk, weren’t sure what to ask/where to challenge.
Tina spent hours and hours assessing his medical history, medications, treatments, etc., and then joined us in a meeting with his medical team during which she professionally probed where necessary, challenged where appropriate, and dug deeper into next level questions when we weren’t sure when/how to. The depths to which she went turned a scheduled 30 minute meeting into 90, after which she personally examined our friend from top to bottom, uncovering a miss by the care team and gracefully rectifying it.
She exposed opportunities for improvement, such as with his pain management and level of comfort, ensured he understood his options, and coached us on how to practice more curiosity to continue to achieve higher quality for him.
